I have been doing freelance work in the web design and online marketing industry since the beginning of 2006. This has allowed me to pursue my other entrepreneurial ideas and website projects. More recently, I have been helping local small business owners and entrepreneurs market their products and services using the power of the social media and local ppc campaigns.
I am invovled in this startup company that develops mobile apps for small to medium sized local companies as a way to promote their business to new customers and to retain their current customer base. I am not only a mobile app developer but I am also developing the company's website and online marketing plan that will include social media, ppc, video marketing, viral marketing, and internet seminar presentations.
My responsibilites with this company were to build new websites and custom landing pages for Google Adwords campaigns. I developed a new online marketing plan for this company that included Google Adwords, search engine optimization, social media (Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube), blogging, email marketing, and viral marketing.
This was a temorary position in a company that was undergoing some internal restructuring. I developed websites for clients and consulted the small business owners on various aspects on online marketing including basic search engine optimization, blogging, content creation for the web, social media marketing, website analytics, and many other areas of marketing. To develop their clients' websites, I used Wordpress and the Genesis framework from Studiopress
I worked with many small business owners that hired HIT Web Design (Heritage Web Design). My responsibilites included creating a website layout in Photoshop, converting that design into HTML/CSS or eCommerce websites (powered by Zen Cart).
I coached a number of clients about eBay, dropshipping sources, good website design practices, ecommerce software, and online marketing which included search engine optimization, keyword research, PPC platforms including Google Adwords.
I went to college after I graduated high school like everyone else did. My first go around at college was an experiment of self-preservation. I considered a degree in Landscape Architecture (LAEP), Graphic Design. Besides the general education classes, I took art classes, woody plants classes, et cetera. I really didn't know what I wanted to do with my life, so instead of competing the requirements needed to graduate in a degree that I wasn't sure I wanted, I allowed myself to be distracted by other opportunities that led me to where I'm at today. Over the past 10 years, I have taught myself website design & online marketing. Paying close attention to how companies use technology to advance their business.
The past 10 years have allowed me to learn a lot of important lessons, one of which allowed me to realize what I wanted to do as a career and how a college degree will help my pursuits. I have chosen to get a business degree with a marketing emphasis from the Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University. I know that my timeline over the past several years is backward, usually people just graduate college and then get a career. I believe that my experiences in the work force as well as my practical applications of business marketing will be a valuable asset to any company.
